• Wires: Select the wire gauge (AWG - the lower the number, the thicker the wire) based on the expected current flow – thicker wires for motors and battery power, thinner ones for signals. Flexible silicone insulation is preferred due to its resistance to soldering heat and flexibility. Use standard colors (red for +, black for -).
• Heat Shrink Tubing: Select a diameter slightly larger than the joint being insulated. A good shrink ratio (e.g., 2:1) will ensure a tight fit after heating. Use different colors for polarity or function identification.
• Screws and Standoffs: Check the required thread (M2 or M3 are standard in FPV) and the exact length – a screw that is too long can damage a component! Choose the material (nylon is lightweight and insulating, steel/aluminum are stronger).
• Tapes and Glues: Select the type based on the task – strong double-sided tape for mounting, electrical tape for insulation, heat-resistant Kapton tape, CA glue for quick repairs, epoxy glue for durable bonds.
• Mounting Materials: Choose Velcro straps with appropriate width and holding strength for batteries. Match the thickness and density of anti-vibration foam for damping vibrations, e.g., for the flight controller.
