Analyze thrust test tables provided by manufacturers, paying attention to efficiency (grams per watt - g/W) at the expected load and cruise speed.
  • Stator Size (e.g., 2808, 2812, 3115): A larger stator means more torque, better handling of large, low-RPM propellers, and potentially higher efficiency in level flight, but also increases motor weight. Choose the size based on the planned propeller size and flight characteristics.
  • KV Rating (RPM/V): In this segment, KV values are significantly lower than in smaller motors (often 600KV - 1300KV). It must be precisely matched to the propeller size and battery voltage (most commonly 6S). Lower KV with larger props favors efficiency and long flights.
  • Build Quality and Cooling: Heavy-lift motors operate under high load. Robust construction, high-quality bearings, and effective cooling are essential for reliability during long missions.
  • Voltage Compatibility: Most motors in this class are optimized for 6S LiPo, but always check the manufacturer's specifications for the maximum allowable voltage.

Remember to choose sufficiently strong frame arms and ESCs with ample current headroom capable of handling the power of these motors.
