Choosing the right connector is crucial for the safety and reliability of the connection. Pay attention to:

  • Maximum Operating Current: This is the most important parameter for power connectors! Choose a connector with a current rating higher than the maximum continuous current drawn by the system (e.g., XT30 ~30A, XT60 ~60A, XT90 ~90A+). Using an underrated connector risks overheating, melting, and even fire! Connectors like JST or Dupont are only suitable for signals and very low currents (typically below 1-2A).
  • Connector Type and Standard: Ensure you choose a connector that matches the mating socket/plug on your device (battery, ESC, flight controller). Double-check the JST connector type (e.g., XH, SH, GH, PH), as they differ in pin pitch and shape.
  • Number of Pins: Select a connector with the correct number of pins for the wires you need to connect (e.g., 2 pins for power, 3 or 4 for servos/UART, more for complex peripherals).
  • Mounting Method / Ease of Use: XT connectors are designed for soldering. Smaller JST/Dupont connectors often require special crimping tools or are available as pre-wired pigtails.
  • Build Quality: For high-current applications, we strongly recommend using genuine Amass connectors, which guarantee low resistance and high reliability. Avoid cheap, low-quality clones.
